Organic carbon is a key element of the physical, chemical and biological fertility of soils: it allows them to provide many ecosystem services (food production, water filtering, etc.). Moreover, the process of sequestration (i.e. stock increase) of organic carbon in soils directly impacts CO2 concentrations in the atmosphere and therefore plays a crucial role in the limitation of climate change.

for Current

A survey of the stock and quality of organic carbon in the soil before the implementation of storage practices. This step is based on innovative technologies that provide a reliable, rapid and significant measurement. This survey can integrate a dynamics estimate of soil carbon sequestration (without the implementation of storage practices) based on predictive modeling.

for Cumulative

Recommendations and support for the implementation of practices that allow additional carbon sequestration in the soil compared to the current situation. These recommendations are based on innovative solutions developed by Valorhiz, within the framework of a circular economy approach, sustainable and respectful of the environment (e.g., TerraGenese® approach).

for Cartography

These approaches can be carried out on large scale using innovative soil and vegetation mapping tools. Via the Cassia® approach, the dynamics of soil carbon sequestration can now be spatialized in order to propose solutions adapted to intra- and inter-site variations.

for Complexity

As carbon sequestration is not an end in itself but a catalyst for soil fertility, an integrative approach to all ecosystem services stimulated by soil carbon sequestration is proposed by Valorhiz. It is based on the consideration of bioindicators of soil multifunctionality.
